RIYADH: The CEO of the Kingdom’s Libraries Commission, Abdulrahman Al-Asim, met with Sharon Memis, secretary-general of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, and Leslie Weir, its president, in Riyadh.
The meeting focused on the state of the library sector and explored opportunities for cooperation, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.
The commission highlighted its initiatives in developing libraries and advancing digital transformation, showcasing key achievements.
These efforts aim to promote expertise exchange and build strategic partnerships for sustainable cultural development, the SPA added.
The IFLA secretary-general praised the commission’s strategy and progress in the library sector and expressed interest in future collaboration.
Memis also invited the commission to participate in upcoming international exhibitions and conferences to showcase Saudi Arabia’s library initiatives and strengthen its global presence.
