MAKKAH: The Makkah Municipality has conducted a rockslide simulation exercise with the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, the Saudi Red Crescent, and other government agencies.
The aim is to enhance emergency responses and improve information exchange to maintain traffic flow and public safety, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.
The simulation included checking potential risks in Makkah, especially during the rainy season. The team studied geological formations and land slopes to identify areas vulnerable to rainwater accumulation or flash floods.
Based on these studies, the municipality will work with the ministry and other authorities to implement necessary measures and conduct further simulations.
This proactive approach helps address potential risks and manage heavy rainfall, while also leveraging existing flood-drainage projects in the city, the SPA added.
The municipality stated that the simulations are a part of ongoing efforts to strengthen preparedness and enhance public safety.
