RIYADH: Saudi Air Navigation Services has signed a memorandum of understanding with MITRE to enhance cooperation in research, development, and innovation as part of its participation in the Dubai Airshow 2025.
The collaboration aims to boost the efficiency of the Kingdom’s air navigation system and improve the quality of its operational processes.
The MoU was signed by SANS Chief Technology Officer, Saleh Al-Motirey, and Kerry Buckley, vice president of the Center for Transportation Systems Integration at MITRE.
The MoU aims to implement joint research programs and develop artificial intelligence-based technologies to support decision-making and improve operational performance. It also focuses on enhancing air traffic management and developing innovative solutions that boost operational efficiency.
MITRE is a leading global non-profit organization in research, development, and technological innovation. It possesses extensive experience in developing air navigation systems and managing air traffic globally, in addition to specializing in cybersecurity, AI, and data analytics, making it a trusted strategic partner in supporting the development of the aviation sector.
The agreement included working to enhance data infrastructure and cybersecurity through secure digital solutions, and launching sustainability initiatives that contribute to reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions, in line with the aviation sector’s drive toward digital transformation and environmental sustainability.
SANS affirmed that signing the memorandum represents a strategic step toward building an advanced aviation system that strengthens national capabilities and opens broader horizons for research and innovation, contributing to increased operational efficiency and improved quality of air navigation services in the Kingdom.
SANS’ participation in the Dubai Airshow 2025 is part of its efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s presence at specialized international events and highlight its leading role in developing the air navigation system regionally and globally.
It also aims to promote the exchange of expertise with international entities and companies, and showcase the Kingdom’s achievements in digital transformation and the adoption of modern technologies in air traffic management.
The SANS pavilion witnessed a large turnout of aviation sector leaders and CEOs of specialized companies, who were briefed on the company’s key solutions and systems for supporting air traffic efficiency and its pivotal role in advancing the development of the civil aviation sector in the Kingdom.
