RIYADH: The Heritage Commission will host the International Festival of Traditional Games in Riyadh from Dec. 19 to 25, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

The event will showcase the value of traditional games, promote cultural exchange, and introduce the diverse identities of participating countries.

Visitors will be able to explore and enjoy traditional pastimes and attend workshops to learn toymaking and home decoration inspired by these games.

In addition, there will be a crafts area featuring products by artisans from Saudi Arabia and beyond, highlighting the richness of folklore.

The festival includes a Year of the Camel pavilion, offering insights into the animal which is a significant symbol of Saudi Arabia’s culture.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture has finalized the selection process for its camel studies grant, aimed at researchers exploring the cultural, social and economic aspects of these animals.

The grant seeks to promote camels as a cultural symbol, preserve the nation’s heritage, highlight intangible traditions, strengthen national identity, and showcase Saudi Arabia’s culture globally, the SPA reported.
