LONDON: Britain’s transport minister Louise Haigh has resigned after news reports about a previous fraud conviction involving a company mobile phone, dealing another blow to the new administration of Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Haigh said in her resignation letter shared by Starmer’s office on Friday that she was standing down as the issue “will inevitably be a distraction from delivering on the work of this government and the policies to which we are committed.” (Reporting by William Schomberg in London and Nilutpal Timsina in Bengaluru; Editing by Christopher Cushing and Himani Sarkar)
