RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is hosting a four-day mobile cybersecurity awareness exhibition organized by the National Cybersecurity Authority, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

The exhibition coincides with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, observed in October to raise awareness about cybersecurity.

The exhibition features six interactive pavilions showcasing cybersecurity concepts and ways to guard against online threats.

Live simulations of major historical cyberattacks on individuals and organizations are presented, and visitors’ level of cybersecurity awareness is measured through interactive methods.

General consultations and recommendations on countering cyberattacks are provided at the exhibition.

RIYADH: A GCC delegation recently visited the Saudi Water Authority’s training partner in Jubail to help boost ties in the sector. 

The trip to the Water Academy was aimed at strengthening cooperation in training and joint programs, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

This initiative follows the GCC’s recommendation to accredit the academy as a key contributor to capacity building in the water sector. 

The delegation met with the authority’s representatives to review local and specialized global training programs for graduates and employees in the engineering and technical fields. 

They also watched a presentation on the academy’s 40-year history and toured its modern facilities, which are equipped with the latest technology for training in the water sector. 

The visit included the Water Technology Innovation and Research Institute, where the delegation learned about its work.

The delegation praised the Kingdom for its development of the sector and expressed interest in future collaboration to address global water challenges.

RIYADH: The Kingdom’s aid agency KSrelief continues to provide vital humanitarian support to vulnerable communities in the region and across the world, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

Mobile medical clinics affiliated with KSrelief in Azlat Al-Deir, which is a part of the Hayran district in Hajjah governorate, Yemen, provided services to 2,897 people in September 2024.

In Morocco’s Sefrou city, the Saudi Noor Voluntary Project has been helping those with vision and other eye problems since Oct. 17, with the work continuing to the 24th.

Since the start of the campaign, KSrelief’s volunteers have examined 3,060 patients and performed 36 specialized eye surgeries, all completely successful.

Meanwhile in Turkiye, the aid agency concluded its volunteer medical project focused on cosmetic surgery for burn and other patients in Reyhanli.

The project ran from Oct. 14 to 20, with 13 volunteers from various medical specialties.

The volunteers assessed 292 patients in diagnostic clinics, provided medication, and successfully performed 97 specialized surgeries.

The KSrelief volunteer medical project for general and thyroid surgery concluded its work on Saturday in Port Sudan, Sudan.

The project, from Oct. 12 to 19, had 15 specialists perform 39 thyroid operations.

RIYADH: King Saud University, in collaboration with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, is set to train 200 teachers in the governorates of Aden, Hadhramaut and Taiz.

The year-long project is being funded by the SDRPY and Hayel Saeed Anam Group, and will be implemented by the university’s King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies, and the Humanitarian Development Program, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

The initiative aims to equip teachers with essential skills and award internationally-recognized certificates, boost student outcomes, and create employment opportunities in the region.

The program also introduces a professional development model endorsed by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

This initiative is a part of the SDRPY’s broader efforts to support education and development in Yemen, alongside projects in vital sectors including health, water, energy and transportation.

The signing ceremony, held at the SDRPY’s headquarters in Riyadh, was attended by officials from the parties, including Yemen’s Education Minister Tareq Al-Akbari, and the SDRPY’s General Supervisor Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber.

KSrelief provides food aid in Syria, Chad and Kyrgyzstan

RIYADH: The Kingdom’s aid agency KSrelief has continued to provide food assistance to vulnerable people in Syria, Chad and Kyrgyzstan, according to several recent reports from the Saudi Press Agency.

In Syria, KSrelief distributed 432 food parcels and 432 health kits on Friday in Jandaris, Aleppo governorate, that will benefit 2,592 individuals.

In Chad, 400 food parcels were handed out in N’Djamena, benefiting 2,400 widows. This is a part of KSrelief’s 2024 Food Security Support Project in that country.

In Kyrgyzstan, the agency has delivered 1,420 food parcels to Osh, which will benefit 7,100 people.

RIYADH: In a vibrant celebration of global cultures as part of the Global Harmony Initiative, India’s diverse cultural heritage and lifestyle is being prominently displayed at Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.

The initiative, launched as part of the Quality of Life Program by the Ministry of Media in line with Saudi Vision 2030, forms a centerpiece of the ongoing Riyadh Season at Al-Suwaidi Park.

Various artists and celebrities from India are demonstrating their country’s rich plural culture and heritage during the celebration at Al-Suwaidi Park. These include popular Indian playback singer, music director, songwriter, film and music producer, Himesh Reshammiya; Surabhi Mehra and Samriddhi Mehra, popularly known as “Chinki-Minki” from the popular “Kapil Sharma Show;” Emiway Bantai, Indian rapper, music artist and actor known for “Gully Boy” (2019); and social media influencer and TV actor Sameeksha Sud.

The Global Harmony Initiative aims to showcase the diverse lives of expatriates in the Kingdom, from across countries and cultures.

Speaking to Arab News, siblings Chinki-Minki, who are celebrated for their comedic talent on social media and Indian television, said: “We are here for the first time, and we are enjoying it. We have experienced very warm hospitality, we met Indian community members who (have been) staying (in Saudi Arabia) for years and loving it.

“They enjoy the diversity of Saudi culture, inclusive Indian culture and mixing with diaspora of other countries and living in harmony. We are really happy and blessed that we are here and got the opportunity to attend the Global Harmony event here.”

Bantai told Arab News: “All praise to the Ministry of Media (and) General Entertainment Authority for such a great season providing great opportunity for the diaspora, especially the Indian community, getting nine days of fun-filled cultural activities.

“It’s a good opportunity to celebrate pluralism and multicultural diversity. I am here to perform for my people … the Indian community as well as other diaspora joining a celebration of global harmony at Al-Suwaidi Park.

“The environment here is very happening, very inclusive, celebrating the diversity, which is great, salute and respect to them,” he added, thanking the Saudi authorities.

Sud told Arab News: “First time in Riyadh, I am very excited to be here. I have heard a lot about Saudi Arabia … I am happy to see a vibrant Indian community living in Riyadh celebrating multiculturalism, global harmony. Things here are very calm, relaxing and luxurious. I am looking forward to it.”

Among the participants from India, cricketers Umran Malik and S. Sreesanth are also included, the organizers said.

There are live performances by dance troupes, music groups and singers from India on all days for the 2.6 million Indian diaspora in Saudi Arabia.

A separate bazaar area has been set up with Indian cuisine, clothing items and handicrafts.

Zeenat Enam, an Indian resident joining the celebration at Al-Suwaidi Park on Saturday evening, told Arab News: “I am very happy to be here and see live performances by different groups. India is known for its diversity, secular fabric and being here to see celebration of diversity as part of the Global Harmony Initiative is an amazing feeling.”  

Sarry Shaaban, GEA coordinator at Al-Suwaidi Park, told Arab News: “The Global Harmony Initiative aims to showcase the diverse lives of expatriates in the Kingdom, from across countries and cultures.”

The initiative is focused on the diverse lives of residents in the Kingdom, looking at their professional and family lives, social and recreational activities, contributions to the economy, success stories, and cultural integration into Saudi society, Shaaban explained.

“I myself, (when) staying abroad, used to travel to different cities to watch celebrations of Arab culture, not necessarily Saudi celebrations. It is nice that the GEA has made such arrangements here for the different diaspora,” he added.

The celebration will also highlight government and private sector efforts to improve the quality of life in Saudi cities.

Besides India, the other participating countries are the Philippines (Oct. 22-25), Indonesia (Oct. 26-29), Pakistan (Oct. 30-Nov 2), Yemen (Nov. 3-6), Sudan (Nov. 7-16), Jordan, Lebanon, Syria (Nov. 17-19), Bangladesh (Nov. 20-23 and Egypt (Nov. 24-30).

India and Saudi Arabia enjoy a long history of cultural engagement.

In recent years, bilateral cultural activities have accelerated in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
