Jordan’s king, Japan’s PM discuss Israeli aggression in the West Bank

AMMAN: Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned of the repercussions of continued Israeli attacks in the West Bank on regional stability and security during a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio on Monday, Jordan News Agency reported.

King Abdullah reiterated the need to step up efforts to reach an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and increase aid to the enclave.

The king also stressed Jordan’s opposition to the displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

He commended Japan’s support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, which had helped enable the agency to undertake its vital role under its UN mandate.

King Abdullah reaffirmed the importance of creating a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region based on the two-state solution.

The call also focused on ties between Jordan and Japan, with the king expressing pride in the 70th anniversary of relations between the countries, while speaking of his appreciation of Japan’s developmental support for Jordan.
