When Abdulrahman Al-Surour launched a tennis club in Jubail through the National Hobbies Portal “Hawi” in early 2022, he was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming response from tennis enthusiasts of all ages and genders. Hawi played a pivotal role in elevating the club’s profile, transforming it into a popular hub for hobbyists and fans of this widely-loved sport in the Kingdom.

Launched in October 2022, Hawi has quickly become a vital resource for thousands of hobbyists across the Kingdom’s regions and cities. It provides a supportive framework that enables them to establish clubs centered around their favorite pastimes. The initiative has seen tremendous success, with over 1,130 clubs formed, encompassing more than 67,128 members. These clubs have hosted over 1,388 events and registered 219 different hobbies, all while fostering robust partnerships with various governmental and private sectors.

A flourishing community of tennis enthusiasts

With membership now exceeding 107 individuals, the Jubail tennis club aims to provide a space where tennis lovers can pursue their passion and connect with others who share their interest. Since its inception, the club has been dedicated to enhancing the physical and mental well-being of its members, honing their skills, and fostering a healthy, competitive spirit on well-maintained courts.

Nurturing future talent

Recently, the club launched a children’s program in response to a growing demand from parents eager to introduce their kids to the sport. Additionally, the club has organized various training sessions and events, including the “500 Points Club Competition” for level B players, the “Play and Learn Tennis” initiative, and the “First Tennis Clinic” exclusively for members.

Al-Surour, reflecting on the club’s journey, said: “The incredible response from the community has been truly heartening. It’s a testament to the passion for tennis in Jubail and the power of initiatives like Hawi to bring people together through shared interests.”

A national movement for hobbies

The National Hobbies Portal Hawi, established by the Quality of Life Program, brings together 12 government entities under one umbrella to support and empower hobbyists across the Kingdom. By providing a platform for citizens, residents, and visitors to engage in cultural, sports, recreational, environmental, and other hobbies, Hawi is creating a vibrant community of hobbyists. Whether through establishing new clubs, joining existing ones, obtaining licenses, or organizing events, Hawi is paving the way for a richer, more connected lifestyle.
