RIYADH: The Asir Manuscripts Exhibition has opened at the House of Culture in the Ahad Rafidah governorate.

The event, under the patronage of Asir Gov. Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, is being held in partnership with the Asir Regional Development Authority, the Libraries Commission, the Asir History Center, and the King Abdulaziz Public Library.

As well as numerous manuscripts and historical documents about the region’s history, it features historical coins and photographs, some of which are being displayed for the first time.

Lectures and panel discussions are being held on the sidelines, with experts covering topics related to the region’s culture, history and heritage.

One lecture, “Social Customs in Asir,” discussed some of the customs and traditions of days gone by, highlighting their positive impact on community cohesion.

The exhibition, which also features a specialist workshop on restoring manuscripts and old documents, continues until Sept. 5.
