Minister hails Saudi Arabia’s higher education milestone

RIYADH: A total of 12 Saudi universities have secured positions among the world’s top 1,000 institutions in the prestigious 2024 Shanghai Ranking, marking a significant milestone for the Kingdom’s higher education sector.

Saudi Education Minister Yousef Al-Benyan congratulated the Saudi leadership on the achievement, praising its steadfast support for education, particularly at university level.

Al-Benyan said that this progress aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Human Capability Development Program’s strategic objectives, and added: “This is to ensure the development of the education and research system and to position Saudi universities among the best globally.”

The minister said that the University Affairs Council was working with the higher education system and relevant bodies, with support from the leadership, to guarantee that universities achieved the highest levels of excellence and leadership in research and educational fields.
