RIYADH: The German ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Michael Kindsgrab, paid a visit to the International Falcon Breeders Auction.
Organized by the Saudi Falcons Club, the event — which runs until Aug. 24 — is held at the club’s headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh, and brings together breeding farms from 16 countries.
The ambassador was received by the club’s deputy CEO, Ahmed Al-Hababi.
Kindsgrab toured the various exhibitions and pavilions and was briefed on different types of falcons, the breeding process, and the club’s efforts to preserve the ancient legacy of falconry.
Meanwhile, Jaber Al-Meri, representative of Special Falcons of Germany, said the German farm was eager to participate in this year’s auction following the successes achieved last year. He described sales at the event as “excellent.”
Al-Meri anticipated that the sales rate would continue to rise, requiring falconers to bring more birds in order to meet demand.
The annual auction, the largest of its kind in the world, brings together elite breeds of falcons and enables falconers and breeders to meet.
The event reflects the Saudi Falcons Club’s efforts to preserve the rich heritage of falconry and support leading falcon-breeding farms, aiming to reinforce the Kingdom’s status as a global destination for falcons and falconers.
