RIYADH: The International Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors 2024 began on Monday in Washington with a strong Saudi presence.
The three-day event is being attended by a delegation of 100 participants from the Saudi Association of Internal Auditors, including leading internal audit professionals and service providers.
The delegation is led by Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Angari, president of the General Court of Audit and chairman of SAIA’s board of directors.
SAIA is participating as a “diamond sponsor” of the conference. Additionally, five speakers nominated by the association will contribute to conference sessions, discussing the 2035 vision for the profession, the importance of advisory roles in internal auditing, integrated assurance processes across defense lines, and audit considerations in construction projects.
These sessions aim to highlight Saudi Arabia’s leadership role in the field of internal auditing, both regionally and internationally.
Al-Angari emphasized Saudi Arabia’s pioneering status across various fields, particularly in internal auditing. He noted the profession’s development in line with technological advancements, especially artificial intelligence and its impact on the industry.
The International Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors 2024 is being attended by 2,300 internal auditors from various countries worldwide.
Throughout the event, 55 speakers will address seven main topics related to internal auditing and the development of its practices in the workplace.
Key focus areas include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fraud and crime, sustainability, global internal auditing standards, governance and leadership, board relations, and human and social capital.
