Dr. Bander Al-Sajjan was recently appointed director general of the Institute of Public Administration, which aims to build capacity and provide business development strategies to government entities to achieve their goals.
At the IPA, Al-Sajjan previously served as the director of the business administration programs sector, the deputy director general for quality and development, and director general of planning and development.
In previous roles, he served as the deputy minister for relations and international collaboration at the Ministry of Energy and was also a part-time adviser for the Ministry of Civil Service.
Al-Sajjan was also a deputy assistant for strategy and international affairs at the Capital Market Authority before being promoted to deputy.
He is a member of numerous local and international organizations — he is a committee member of the Preparatory Committee for Administrative Organization; the chairman of the expert committee at the Arab Administrative Development Organization; an advisory board member of the Journal of Security Research; a board member of the Human Resources Development Fund and a member of its Internal Audit Committee; and a board member of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration in Belgium.
Al-Sajjan earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from King Saud University in Riyadh and a master’s degree in business administration, specializing in finance and management information system, from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, US. He also holds a PhD in business administration from Brunel University in London.
