JAZAN: Border Guard officers in Jazan’s Al-Ardah governorate have arrested several people suspected of attempting to smuggle 80 kg of qat into the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.
Qat, a shrub native to the Arabian Peninsula, is a mild stimulant, with less intense effects than cocaine and methamphetamine.
Citizens and residents are urged to report suspected drug selling or smuggling to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Region, 999 elsewhere, or by emailing 995@gdnc.gov.sa. All communications are treated confidentially.
