VIENNA: Kuwait has called on the International Atomic Energy Agency to urge Israel to immediately join the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, state news agency KUNA reported.

In a speech delivered by the Kuwait delegation to the UN, the delegation said that the Israeli occupation refused to subject its nuclear facilities to the IAEA system, despite the commitment of all Middle Eastern countries to the treaty.

The delegation, led by Sara Al-Ajmi, said that Israel continued to reject the idea of creating a zone free of nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction in the region.

Al-Ajmi addressed the situation in Gaza and confirmed Kuwait’s stance in condemning the deaths of Palestinians in the Israeli occupation.
