MADINAH: The Madinah branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has announced a significant milestone in the region’s date industry. According to the ministry, the Central Date Market witnessed an impressive sales volume of 528,604 kg during the past week, amounting to a staggering value of over SR7.7 million ($2 million).
However, the ministry also reported that field teams recorded 23 violations related to the quality and safety of date product storage and other infractions during the same period. In response, the branch has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting regular inspection rounds to monitor the market, ensure compliance with technical and health requirements, and verify the quality of the products being sold.
In light of the influx of pilgrims and the commencement of the fresh date harvest season in the region’s farms, the ministry branch has ramped up its efforts to closely monitor the operational state of the Central Date Market.
The branch has introduced a special, unified visual identity for date preservation boxes and has allocated designated areas for packaging companies within the Central Date Market to showcase their products. Furthermore, the western gate has been operationalized to streamline the entry process, and dedicated paths have been assigned for individuals with disabilities.
