DPS Begins Operation in Riyadh

RIYADH, 16 July 2004 — Darussalam International School, popularly known as DPS, was opened in the Saudi capital on Tuesday in the presence of Narendra Kumar, chairman of the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi.

The guest of honor was India’s Ambassador Kamaluddin Ahmed who released the school’s prospectus-cum-brochure to mark the occasion.

The ambassador was received on arrival by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Quayid and Nadeem Tarin, chairman of the managing committee.

DPS Riyadh begins its session from Sept. 4 with separate sections for boys and girls. Registration for admissions has started for pre-nursery to VII that would run on CBSE pattern, where the teaching is imparted by well-trained teachers.

In their opening remarks, both Dr. Al-Quayid and Nadeem Tarin spoke about the traditions and values of DPS. The speakers pointed out that DPS would be run in line with its tradition that academic and co-curricular activities should go hand in hand for developing the full potential of a child.

The speakers said DPS is recognized for its quality education and believes in providing opportunity for the realization of a child’s full potential. Nadeem Tarin pointed out that within a few decades it had spread to 12 countries with more than 120 schools under its umbrella. “It is a happy occasion for the million-strong NRI community that DPS schools have brought to the Kingdom their tradition of providing quality education.”

The school enjoys the patronage of eminent educationists and professionals like Dr. Ibrahim Al-Quayid, Nadeem Tarim, Sultan Al-Terais from the Kingdom and Mukhtarul Amin from India. They all share a common approach to spreading education as a corporate mission.

Later, Amin delivered a special address spelling out the aims and objectives of the school.

Narendra Kumar, chairman of DPSS, spoke on “The case of DPSS.” This was followed by presentation of mementos and a vote of thanks by the principal.

The Delhi Public School Society is managing the school with Zeenat Khader as its principal. The eminent educationists associated with the society are Salman Khurshid, president, and Narendra Kumar, chairman, whose efforts have led to DPS becoming a global educational brand across 12 countries.

According to Akhtar Siddiqui, member of the school’s managing committee, the school blends the heritage and technology where all efforts are focused on building young pupils with confidence based on understanding of themselves and a sense of achievement and development of competitive strength to excel at the national and global level. “We believe in providing value for money in terms of the child’s educational advancement,” Siddiqui added.
