Prince Dr. Mamdouh bin Saud bin Thunayan was recently appointed by Saudi Arabia’s cabinet as a trustee of the King Abdulaziz Complex for Endowment Libraries.
Prince Mamdouh has been the CEO of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy since June 2023.
He has held several positions in academic institutions over the course of his career.
Previously, he served as president of the Islamic University of Madinah from July 2020 to May 2023 and was the vice rector of Shaqra University from 2017 to 2020.
He was a professor of electrical engineering at King Saud University, and board chairman of the institution’s master’s program in renewable energy from 2016 to 2018.
From 2014 to 2018, Prince Mamdouh was the head of the Sustainable Energy Technologies Center at the university. He also directed the Saudi Electricity Company Chair in Power System Security and Reliability at King Saud University from 2013 to 2019.
He worked as a part-time consultant in the Energy Research Institute at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology from 2013 to 2014, and as the vice dean of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute at King Saud University from 2012 to 2017.
Prince Mamdouh was the deputy director of the Center of Excellence for Research in Engineering Materials from 2009 to 2012.
He earned a doctorate in electrical engineering from McMaster University in Canada in 2007, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering from King Saud University in 2000 and 1996 respectively.
