RIYADH: A Saudi Shoura Council delegation took part in the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and related meetings in Geneva, Switzerland, from March 23 to March 27.
The debate focused on the theme “Parliamentary diplomacy: Building bridges for peace and understanding.”
Delegates deliberated and exchanged views on how to galvanize parliamentary action to that end, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.
Shoura Council Assistant Speaker Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi said that the council was keen to participate in all parliamentary meetings to highlight Saudi Arabia’s role in achieving security and stability around the world.
She said that the Shoura Council attached great importance to inter-parliamentary work and diplomacy, which could play an important role in strengthening relations between the Kingdom and other countries.
Al-Ahmadi said that such meetings were a place where the Kingdom’s views on different issues could be made known.
