RIYADH: King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made donations totalling SR150 million ($40 million) to the Jood Eskan charity campaign, which is affiliated with the Jood Housing platform.
The King donated SR100 million, while the crown prince’s donation amounted to SR50 million.
This contribution falls within the framework of their support for housing programs and national efforts and initiatives aimed at providing housing for the neediest families in Saudi Arabia.
Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail appreciated the leadership’s support, stressing that it will have a tremendous, effective impact on providing suitable housing units.
The Jood Eskan campaign aims to secure housing for low-income families during the holy month of Ramadan, focusing on mobilizing charitable bids from philanthropists and institutions to support those most in need.
The Jood Housing platform is an initiative of the National Developmental Housing Foundation, or Sakan, which seeks to involve community members in development programs and achieve social solidarity in the housing sector.
Jood Eskan is a Saudi crowdfunding platform for home ownership launched in 2019 by Sakan, a nonprofit arm of the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing. It provides services and financial contributions to eligible families, including help with rent and homeownership.
Saudi Vision 2030 aims to raise the national homeownership rate from 47 percent in 2016 to 70 percent by 2030.
