Al-Mawaddah Society for Family Development: An example to be proud of

The holy month of Ramadan is known as a time for giving and supporting needy families and individuals through charitable contributions and corporate social responsibilities.

I was invited to join the honorary board of the Al-Mawaddah Society for Family Development last week. The board is led by Prince Faisal bin Mugrin as its president and Faisal Al-Samanoudi as his deputy, alongside prominent personalities from academia and the private sector.

Al-Mawaddah is a nonprofit development association specializing in education, training, guidance, reform, and family awareness through sustainable development initiatives. It aims to stabilize families and build a generation of conscious and cohesive families capable of facing challenges. Additionally, the association seeks to create a healthy and safe environment for children following parental separation, fostering mutual respect.

Over the years, Al-Mawaddah has provided guidance and dispute resolution services to 9,779 individuals; around 1,766 families have been reunited with their children; 936 women have been aided through the Life Academy for Women’s Empowerment to economically support their families; 10,176 people have been trained in vocational skills; and 13,699 women and children have been given protection-center care.

Nationals and residents from various age groups and all strata of society have begun utilizing the Ehsan platform to support community projects and humanitarian cases by donating through this reliable official channel.

It is worth noting that as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 plan aimed at enhancing quality of life, including streamlining charitable contributions in the country, the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence launched the Ehsan platform a few years ago to support charitable giving in an organized and guaranteed digital system.

With the onset of the holy month of Ramadan, the latest national campaign took place, witnessing a broad turnout of beneficiaries receiving donations from individuals, companies, banks, and other donors through the platform’s application. The platform is designed to facilitate the efforts of donors and philanthropists, reduce difficulties associated with bank transfers, and organize payment portals accessible through laptops or even mobile phones.

We at BMG Foundation, since our inception 25 years ago, have been among the pioneering organizations to introduce the term corporate social responsibility, in collaboration with prominent families such as Abdul Latif Jameel, Al-Rajhi, Al-Subaie, Al-Sharbatly, Bin Mahfouz, Al-Jomiah, Al-Fozan, Bahrawi (Widad), Al-Muhaidib, and others who had established in-house charitable organizations and foundations many years ago.

Al-Mawaddah stands as a shining example of leadership to be proud of.
