RIYADH: Authorities in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday reiterated that donations during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan must be made within the Kingdom through authorized channels and entities, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

A Presidency of State Security spokesperson said the warning came “to ensure the safety of charitable work and grow its income sources, alongside the raised concerns of the possibility of Ramadan being exploited by some entities or individuals for collecting money from citizens and residents under the guise of raising donations.”

For those who wish to donate abroad, the only entity authorized outside the Kingdom is the Saudi aid agency KSrelief, the SPA added.

Donors violating these instructions will be held to account according to the regulations in force in the Kingdom, the presidency added.
