Islamabad through to playoffs after beating Peshawar in high-scoring PSL clash

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by three wickets in a high-scoring Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9th edition match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, making it to the playoff stage of this season.
Islamabad won the toss and decided to bowl first in the game. Usman Khan played an unbeaten 100-run knock from 50 deliveries.
Johnson Charles and Yasir Khan added 42 and 33 runs respectively to take Multan to 228/4 in 20 overs. In response, Islamabad put up a brilliant show, with Colin Munro hitting 84 runs to keep their playoff hopes alive.
“Islamabad United are through to the playoffs,” PSL commented on X after the match. “A thrilling finish in Rawalpindi as the Sherus [Islamabad’s mascot of lion] claim the third-highest successful chase in HBL PSL history!“
Faheem Ashraf dismissed two for 32 runs, while Hunain Shah and Naseem Shah claimed one wicket each.
Munro, Shadab Khan (54) and Imad Wasim (30) helped Islamabad chased down a mammoth 229-run target at a loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
This was Multan’s third loss in their nine matches, while Islamabad have won five out of their 10 games this season.
