RIYADH: Tourism and cultural ties are set to flourish as Saudi aviation officials embark on a global mission exploring opportunities in Singapore, China, and the US.

A high-level delegation, headed by Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, has initiated official visits to these countries to pursue avenues for cooperation in connectivity, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The 11-day tour, set to conclude on Feb. 29, is integral to Saudi Arabia’s efforts to strengthen the contribution of the air transport sector to the national economy and attract global investors.

It provides an opportunity to evaluate high-value investment prospects in civil aviation and highlight the Kingdom’s initiatives for advancing the sector, according to SPA.

Ultimately, this aims to enhance travel options, boost tourism, and foster cultural and commercial exchange between the countries.

During the delegation’s initial visit to Singapore, Al-Duailej will participate in the second edition of the Changi Aviation Summit.

This gathering, hosting over 400 senior government officials and industry leaders from over 70 countries at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre on Feb. 19, will discuss the future of aviation in a post-pandemic world, as per Singapore’s Ministry of Transport.

The GACA president will also be present at the Singapore Airshow, Asia’s largest aerospace and defense exhibition.

In the US, the Saudi aviation official will join the International Helicopter Exhibition in Anaheim, California. Al-Duailej is set to meet with government officials and CEOs of civil aviation companies during the delegation’s visits to each country.

These engagements will include roundtable meetings with industry leaders to showcase the latest achievements and unique opportunities outlined in the Saudi Aviation Strategy.

In December 2023, the GACA chief launched a digital initiative to develop a new system for managing and monitoring airline travelers in the Kingdom.

Commenting at that time, Al-Duailej said that this initiative aligns with the organization’s goal of enhancing the Kingdom’s aviation industry to improve the traveler’s experience.

He further emphasized that this initiative aligns well with the authority’s commitment to prioritize digital transformation, ensuring the delivery of better services in accordance with international standards.
