Saudi FM continues push for Gaza ceasefire at Munich meetings

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Saturday met EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

The two sides discussed the latest regional and international developments, most notably the situation in the Gaza Strip and efforts to tackle the crisis, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.

“Discussed with HRH Prince Faisal bin Farhan the catastrophic situation in Gaza, the need for regional security and practical next steps in our joint work on the two state solution,” Borrell said on X after the meeting.

During a meeting with Emmanuel Bonne, diplomatic adviser to the French president, Prince Faisal discussed Saudi-French relations, ways to enhance them, the latest regional and international developments and the Gaza war.

He also discussed the Gaza conflict with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein.

The prince also held separate meetings with UK Labour Party leader Keir Starmer and Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.
