RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Meshari Al-Harbi was among the victorious riders at the International Showjumping Tour Grand Prix, which concluded in Jeddah on Saturday.
The event, which had a prize pool of more than SR1 million ($266,000), ran from Jan. 24 until Saturday at the Trio Sporting Venue, featuring 160 riders and 200 horses from around the world. It was sanctioned by the International Equestrian Federation in December.
Spanning three weekends, the competition showcased 48 classes designed by renowned international course designer Mario Breccia.
Saudi Equestrian Federation President Prince Abdullah bin Fahad handed out awards to the winning riders, including Al-Harbi.
The tour “was of an exceptional standard” and “affirms Saudi Arabia’s status in hosting international events,” Prince Abdullah said.
“We appreciate the high level of organization, and we are looking forward to further achievements for Saudi equestrianism.”
