RIYADH: UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini has praised the strategic cooperation between the agency and Saudi aid center KSrelief.

Following a meeting with KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh, Lazzarini said: “We have implemented the first phase of support with the center, which cost $15 million. We also requested the center to continue providing basic needs for the most vulnerable groups, such as winter clothes, urgent medical materials and more.”

Lazzarini described UNRWA’s partnership with the center as “long term” and based on “trust, predictability, shared future goals and vision.” The framework guides the two sides in humanitarian work in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Meanwhile, KSrelief continued distributing aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Recently, 400 food baskets and 250 personal hygiene bags were distributed at the shelter in the Tel Al-Sultan area, west of Rafah. The aid will help almost 4,000 Palestinians sheltering in the area.

A national fundraising campaign in Saudi Arabia to provide aid for Gazans has so far raised more than SR626 million ($167 million).

The initiative was launched on Nov. 2 last year by KSrelief through the Sahem platform for charitable donations, in line with directives from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

More than 1.72 million people have accessed the platform to make donations.

Contributions can be made through Sahem’s website at sahem.ksrelief.org. Donors can also transfer funds directly to the campaign’s Al-Rajhi Bank account, or by downloading the Sahem app through the App Store or Google Play.
