DUBAI: The 13th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival will begin on Wednesday, inviting more than 15 international artists to present shows in the emirate.
The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority oversees the 12-day event, which includes light shows inspired by Sharjah and the UAE’s culture, history and nature, Emirates News Agency reported.
Cutting-edge, energy-efficient lighting technology will illuminate 12 of the emirate’s most popular locations, including Sharjah Police Headquarters, the souq, several mosques and waterfronts.
The SCTDA’s selection of locations aims to deliver narratives about Sharjah’s legacy and heritage, and demonstrate the emirate’s offerings in tourism, culture and art.
Last year’s light festival drew almost 1.3 million visitors, including 189,000 to the Light Village.
