Fatima Aloufi was elected to the board of directors of the Saudi Journalists Association on Jan. 28.
For over a decade, Aloufi has gained extensive experience in the media industry and is currently a senior managing editor at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport.
She began her career as a news reporter for Elaph.com in 2010 and also wrote in 2012 for Asharq Al-Awsat, one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent newspapers.
She then went on to become a news correspondent for Al Arabiya’s online platform from 2013 to 2014 before participating in establishing Makkah Newspaper in 2014 where she was a reporter for four years.
In 2017, she founded and then managed until 2021 the Digital Communication Center for the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection in Jeddah.
She then served as a senior interview producer at Al Arabiya TV from 2019 to 2022, where she also participated in launching their first bulletin from Riyadh city.
In 2022, Aloufi became a managing editor at Saudi Research and Media Group, or SRMG, before taking on her current role at the Ministry of Sport.
One of her career highlights was representing Saudi Arabia’s press during the first visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to France. She has also participated in organizing several media and public relations events in the Kingdom.
In addition to reporting, Aloufi has experience in leading media department teams, social media communication, and media crisis management.
Aloufi gained a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Universite Hassan II Mohammedia in Morocco in 2013. She also holds a certification from the US through the International Visitor Leadership Program, and completed a course by Reuters titled “Reporting Women.”
