RIYADH: The Saudi Heritage Commission and Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization on Sunday signed a deal to cooperate on training, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the inaugural Alecso Forum for Business and Partnerships, an initiative spearheaded by Saudi Arabia.

The arrangement will see the creation of a number of training programs — covering areas such as digital archiving and preparing World Heritage files — as well as several capacity-building initiatives.

It will also include scientific lectures, field visits to World Heritage sites in Saudi Arabia and sessions for knowledge exchange among young professionals in the field.

The forum saw the signing of 31 cooperation agreements involving 17 Arab countries, in areas as diverse as culture, science, the Arabic language and sport.

One deal saw Alecso and the Arab Football Federation agreeing to ensure player names are displayed in Arabic and to translate football laws and terminology into Arabic.

The organization also entered into agreements with Saudi institutions, including an executive training program with the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and partnerships with King Abdulaziz Public Library, the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Award for Translation and the King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language.
