JEDDAH: A Saudi woman bought a signed Cristiano Ronaldo Al-Nassr football jersey for $125,000 during an auction on Wednesday.

The sale took place during a dinner party on the sidelines of an event in the run-up to the Diriyah ePrix, which will take place on Jan. 26 and 27.

In a 65-second video of the auction posted on X, the auctioneer can be heard saying the bidding for the Portuguese star’s shirt has reached $77,500, and he notes his surprise that it is increasing so quickly.

After encouraging people to keep bidding he then shouts: “$100,000.” The crowd claps loudly in response before the bid rises to $105,000 and then $110,00. The auctioneer then acknowledges a bid of “$115,000” and says “going once, going twice” before the final bid of $125,000 is made. The woman who made it, said to be a member of the business community, is not shown in the video.

Ronaldo joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in January 2023.
