- More than 1.6 million people had accessed the platform to make donations
RIYADH: A fundraising campaign in Saudi Arabia has raised over SR619 million ($165 million) for the people of Gaza.
The initiative was launched on Nov. 2, 2023, by the Kingdom’s aid agency KSrelief through the Sahem platform for charitable donations, as ordered by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
By Monday, more than 1.6 million people had accessed the platform to make donations.
Those who wish to contribute can download the Sahem app from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, visit sahem.ksrelief.org, or transfer funds directly into the campaign’s Al-Rajhi Bank account (SA5580000504608018899998).
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Egypt, Osama Nugali, met with Alfonso Verdu Perez, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the African nation.
They discussed ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom and the Red Cross, focusing on medical assistance provided by Saudi Arabia to those in need in the Gaza Strip.
In November, KSrelief signed a SR37.5 million ($10 million) cooperation agreement in Cairo with the International Committee of the Red Cross to aid Palestinians in Gaza.
This partnership focuses on supporting hospitals, bringing in medical staff, and addressing the needs of the wounded and those with burns.
KSrelief also provides intensive care items and ambulances, facilitates access to clean water, and raises awareness about the dangers of explosive waste.
