Address Jabal Omar Makkah, a luxury hospitality destination in the heart of Makkah, has announced the opening of “Sky Mussallah” — the world’s highest prayer room — overlooking the Holy Kaaba.
“Designed to excel on every metric, the new Sky Mussallah is a perfect embodiment of the hotel’s unparalleled architectural excellence,” a press release said. “The mussallah stands as a sensational vantage point for guests to immerse themselves in complete spirituality while gazing out at the magnificent landmarks of Makkah. It has been specially designed to offer a heartfelt connection to its sacred surroundings, providing a bird’s-eye view of Masjid Al-Haram with a full sight of the Holy Kaaba, where the whole city comes alive every year during the Hajj and Umrah season.”
The interiors of the Sky Mussallah feature a seamless fusion of ancient Arabian charm and contemporary opulence. The stunning Arabic calligraphy adds a layer of grace to the ambience. Each stroke of the calligraphy tells a story about the different names of Allah, such as Al-Muqaddim (The Advancer), and Al-Mani (The Shielder and Protector), infusing the space with a sense of reverence and connection to the rich Islamic heritage.
Located in the interconnecting bridge that links the property’s two towers, soaring at 483 meters high above the sea level, and standing at 179 meters from the hotel’s internal road level, the Sky Mussallah has recently been inducted into the Guinness World Records, recognized as the “highest prayer room within a skybridge.”
This achievement was a result of both architectural brilliance and boundless creativity, employing cutting-edge technologies and using special equipment to design the space. With a weight of 650 tons, its steel bridge was first assembled at 312 meters above sea level before being lifted to the final level where it links the hotel’s twin towers at the 36th, 37th, and 38th floors.
Khalid Al-Amoudi, CEO of Jabal Omar Development Company, said: “We are thrilled to have entered the prestigious Guinness World Records with our awe-inspiring Sky Mussallah. This remarkable stride is a symbol of our steadfast commitment to offering unrivaled experiences for pilgrims and travelers. With its prime location centering the hotel’s twin towers, the Sky Mussallah is truly breathtaking and is a must visit sight for everyone passing through the city.”
The mussallah is spacious enough to accommodate around 520 people, as it spans 550 square meters, making it perfect for prayer no matter the time of the day. As dawn breaks over Makkah, visitors can witness the stunning beauty of the holy city awakening, transporting them into a realm of utter tranquility and peace. When the sun begins its descent, the mussallah transforms into a sanctuary of serenity, with the fading sunlight painting a palette of warm tones, creating a sacred haven for contemplation and prayer.
Mark Kirby, head of Emaar Hospitality Group, owner of the hotel, said: “It is a great achievement to finally open our stunning Sky Mussallah and we look forward to welcoming visitors to experience the spirituality on offer at this unrivaled location. As part of our diverse hotel chain, Address Jabal Omar Makkah stands as an iconic landmark in the city of Makkah, blending the luxurious style of Address Hotels + Resorts with the rich Arabic traditions of Saudi Arabia.
