Riyadh: The Fenaa Alawwal center in Riyadh hosted the French-Swiss jazz musician Erik Truffaz in a concert at the weekend.
The concert was part of the “Safar Nights” series at the center in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter, featuring international performers showcasing artistic works to a local audience.
Truffaz, one of the world’s leading jazz musicians, is recognized for his distinctive style, which seamlessly combines multiple musical genres.
“It is a privilege that the minister of culture invited us to play in Riyadh. It is my first time playing here. I have previously participated in a festival in Saudi Arabia. I have had the opportunity to perform in London, Abu Dhabi, and many times in Dubai, but I think, for my music to be more popular here, I need to come back frequently,” Truffaz told Arab News.
“I think I would like to stay longer in Riyadh, and I want to go out and discover the nature of it. I think the magic exists, but it is also hidden, and it needs efforts to discover it.”
Through the “Safar Nights” series, Fenaa Alawwal center seeks to provide artistic experiences that reflect cultural diversity, and promote dialogue and human exchange through music.
The center, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, was established in 2022 at the former headquarters of Alawwal Bank in the Diplomatic Quarter. It also offers art exhibitions, creative and educational workshops, seminars and other cultural activities.
