MWL chief meets UN official in New York

NEW YORK: Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, secretary-general of the Muslim World League and chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met with Greta Gunnarsdottir, the director of the UN Relief and Works Agency’s representative office in New York.

During the meeting, the agency’s assistance toward Palestinian refugees and its humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip were reviewed.

The parties also discussed promoting avenues of cooperation between the MWL and the UNRWA office.

Al-Issa also met Selwin Hart, special adviser to the UN secretary-general on climate action and just transition, in New York.

They discussed the importance of the role of religious organizations, institutions, and leaders in promoting climate awareness.
