Saudi deputy FM takes part in IGAD and NAM summits in Uganda

KAMPALA: Representing Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi minister of foreign affairs, Waleed Elkhereiji, the deputy minister of foreign affairs, participated in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development Summit in Uganda on Friday.

In his address, Elkhereiji conveyed the Kingdom’s resolute commitment to supporting and strengthening Saudi-African relations, solidifying connections with African nations and IGAD member states.

He emphasized Saudi Arabia’s keenness to upholding the unity of Somalia and Sudan, ensuring the preservation of their territories. This commitment contributes to maintaining security, and stability, and fostering integration among countries in the region.

Elkhereiji also participated in the opening of the 19th summit of the leaders of the Non-Aligned Movement countries, on behalf of King Salman.

The NAM summit will discuss finding effective solutions to the major political and economic challenges around the world, and multilateral cooperation to enhance international peace and security.

The Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, and Saudi Ambassador to Uganda Jamal Al-Madani also took part in the meeting.
