Marseille’s Brazilian defender Renan Lodi joins Al-Hilal for reported $21.7m

Riyadh: Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have signed Brazilian international defender Renan Lodi from French club Olympique de Marseille for a reported 20 million euros ($21.7 million), the Riyadh giants announced on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old left-back’s contract will see him committed to the club until the end of 2027.
Al-Hilal chairman, Fahad bin Saad bin Nafel, attended the signing ceremony in Paris.
In a welcome post on X, the club said: “He (Lodi) is here to deliver, to compete. He is ready.”

Lodi will join up with fellow countryman Neymar, who is currently injured, at the club.
In a post on X, football journalist Fabrizio Romano said: “Official, confirmed. Renan Lodi joins Al-Hilal on loan with obligation deal from Olympique Marseille. Contract until June 2027, OM to receive fee in excess of 20 million euros.”
Lodi joined French Ligue 1 side Marseille during the summer following a loan spell from Atletico Madrid at English Premier League club Nottingham Forest. But his six-month stay with the French side did not work out.
In another post on X carrying a blue heart emoji and No. 6 symbol, Al-Hilal said: “A new Brazilian joins the squad.”

Al-Hilal currently sits undefeated this season at the top of the SPL on 53 points after 19 games.
