UAE court adjourns trial for 84 defendants to State Security Court till February

DUBAI: The Abu Dhabi Federal Appeal Court adjourned the hearing of 84 defendants accused  of establishing an illegal organization to commit acts of violence and terrorism in the country, state-run news agency WAM reported. 

The hearing was adjourned Friday until Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 to hear the pleading of public prosecution. 

The court heard on Thursday the testimonies of two prosecution witnesses on charges related to money laundering accusations against five defendants and six companies they manage.

The UAE’s Attorney-General, Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, referred the 84 defendants, accused being members of the Muslim Brotherhood, to the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal for trial on charges of establishing a clandestine organization for the purpose of committing acts of violence and terrorism in the UAE.
