Saudi authorities arrest 15 people in drug busts across the country

RIYADH: Three Pakistanis were arrested in Jeddah for selling 3.9 kilograms of methamphetamine, Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Narcotics Control said on Saturday.

An Indian resident was also arrested for distributing the substance, also known as Shabu, in the Eastern Province, and a Yemeni national and a Saudi citizen were arrested in Samtah Governorate in Jazan for selling amphetamine.

In Jazan’s Al-Arda district, border guard ground patrols arrested four Yemenis for attempting to smuggle 80 kilograms of qat. Border guards in Asir region’s Al-Rabwa area arrested five Ethiopians for smuggling 70 kilograms of qat.

Authorities urged members of the public to report any information about drug smuggling or dealing by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern regions, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom.
