Saudi authorities foil attempts to smuggle drugs

RIYADH: The Saudi Border Guards in Al-Ardah governorate, Jazan region, have arrested three Ethiopian nationals for attempting to smuggle 44 kg of hashish.
Also in Jazan, security patrols arrested an Ethiopian border security violator for promoting pills subject to medical circulation regulation.
The General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested a citizen in the Hail region for selling amphetamine, and a person in Taif Governorate for distributing methamphetamine, cannabis, and tablets subject to medical circulation regulation.
Border Guard patrols in the Al-Rabwa sector in the Asir region thwarted attempts to smuggle 140 kg of the qat plant.
Immediate legal procedures have been implemented on all those arrested, and the seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities.
Security authorities call on the public to report information concerning drug smuggling or selling by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern regions, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom. They may also contact the General Directorate of Narcotics Control at 995 or by email: 995@gdnc.gov.sa.
