ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani expatriate in the United Arab Emirates won over $4 million in lucky draw, reported an international publication on Friday, after trying his luck multiple times since buying his first raffle ticket in 2021.
The UAE is known for hosting a variety of lucky draws and raffles that encourage the participation of both residents and expatriates. Many of these schemes offer substantial prizes, including large cash amounts, luxury cars, real estate and gold.
Mohammad Inam, who works as a finance auditor with a private firm in Abu Dhabi, won the Easy6 game at the Emirates Draw, according to UAE-based Khaleej Times, expressing his desire to perform the annual Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj after winning the AED15 million jackpot.
He told the newspaper he initially dismissed the phone call informing him that he had won the prize money, thinking it was a prank.
“Later, reality sunk in and I realized that the call was true, and that I am now a millionaire,” he told Khaleej Times.
The Emirates Draw announced in a social media post that Inam had won the amount by buying a AED15 ticket.
The Pakistani Easy6 winner said he wanted to invest in the UAE’s real estate market and purchase a family car after performing Hajj.
“All further investments and expenditures would be postponed and will be undertaken after my family’s Hajj pilgrimage,” he said.
