The Asir region appears to have more good news to share with us. Last week, the Asir Development Authority launched the second industrial city, covering an estimated area of 17.3 million sq. m.
Governor of Asir Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz expressed appreciation for the leadership during the launch ceremony. The second industrial city exemplifies how Saudi Arabia connects development projects to optimize their collective impact.
The city seamlessly integrates with the first industrial city in Asir to offer services and products that contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the industrial sector. The two cities create a business model aligning with national ambitions for integration and cooperation between the public and private sectors.
They attained their sustainable impact according to a comprehensive vision aimed at activating the developmental role of the industrial sector. Thus, the efforts to build these cities align with Asir’s development strategy, which is consistent with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, or Modon, is working on the development of a 2 million sq. m area during the first phase of the new city.
The city seamlessly integrates with the first industrial city in Asir to offer services and products that contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the industrial sector.
This city is located in Al-Hafayer, northwest of Khamis Mushait. It will be linked to multiple road networks that contribute to the quality management of the entire supply chain. This includes providing the project with raw materials and delivering industrial products. The first phase also includes infrastructure development projects, such as road networks and all related utility services.
The first industrial city in Asir was established in 1990 in an area spanning 2.7 km2. It comprised 157 industry and service contracts, including construction, manufacturing, printing, vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment, pharmaceutical products, chemicals and electrical equipment.
As we recall, within one year, we have witnessed three announcements in the Asir region, including the master plan for the new Abha International Airport, the launch of the Ardara company to develop the Al-Wadi project in the heart of Abha, and the Al-Soudah Development company.
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources used the right theme for its launching ceremony: “We are racing the future to make Asir a global destination.”
With this new announcement of the second industrial city, the stunning region of Asir is reaching another milestone as one of the country’s high-growth economic drivers, attracting local and global investors.
