Jordan’s King Abdullah awards medal to Pakistan’s General Sahir Shamshad Mirza amid security talks

ISLAMABAD: King Abdullah of Jordan presented a top national medal of his country to Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza who is currently on a visit to the Arab state to discuss a wide range of issues, confirmed an official Pakistani statement on Wednesday.
Pakistan and Jordan have a long history of cordial relationship. The two countries have supported each other on various regional and international platforms in the past and tried to capitalize on their religious affinity and shared perspective on global politics.
The defense and security cooperation is also central pillar of their bilateral ties, with the two countries sharing counterterrorism expertise, intelligence and training programs to combat extremist violence and militancy.
General Mirza held a meeting with the Jordanian king to discuss issues of mutual interest, including regional security situation and military cooperation.
“Jordanian King Abdullah Ibn Al Hussain conferred the medal ‘Order of the Star of Jordan’ to Chairman JCSC General Sahir Shamshad Mirza in recognition of his meritorious services,” the army’s media wing, ISPR, said in a brief statement.
The Pakistani general held separate meetings with his Jordanian counterpart Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hnaity and Commander of the Royal Jordan Air Force Brig. Gen. Muhammad Hyasat.
Both countries have also increased high-level bilateral visits in recent years.
