ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will travel to Kuwait on a day-long visit on Monday to offer condolences on the demise of its ruler, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who was laid to rest on Sunday.
The late Kuwaiti emir passed away at the age of 86 a day earlier. His casket was draped in his country’s national flag, with members of the Al-Sabah family and several high-profile officials attending his funeral.
Several foreign dignitaries are expected to travel to the Arab country in the coming days to express condolences. The successor to the late ruler, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, will personally meet them at the Diwan of Al-Sabah Family at Bayan Palace on Monday and Tuesday.
“Prime Minister of Pakistan @anwaar_kakar will undertake a one-day visit to #Kuwait tomorrow to convey to the Royal Family, government and the people of Kuwait the sympathies and condolences of the Government and people of #Pakistan on the sad demise of the Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah,” the foreign office of Pakistan announced in a social media post on X.

Kakar visited Kuwait on a two-day visit last month to interact with the top leadership of the Arab country and sign a number of bilateral cooperation and investment deals.
The two countries agreed to broaden and deepen their relationship by specifically focusing on areas related to manpower, information technology, mineral exploration, food security, energy and defense.
The late Kuwaiti ruler was named crown prince in 2006 by his half-brother Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and took over as emir in September 2020.
His country announced official mourning for 40 days and the closure of official departments for three days after the announcement of his death on Saturday.
