RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday welcomed the agreement on a four-day truce in the Gaza war and said it appreciates Qatari, Egyptian and US efforts to achieve the temporary ceasefire.

Israel and Hamas agreed on Wednesday to a ceasefire in Gaza for at least four days, to let in aid and release at least 50 hostages captured by militants in exchange for at least 150 Palestinians jailed in Israel.

The Kingdom reiterated its call for a comprehensive cessation of military operations, the protection of civilians and provision of relief to them, and the liberation of hostages and prisoners.
