Saudi tourism minister bolsters ties at Pacific Islands Forum

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s tourism minister took part in the Pacific Islands Forum in the Cook Islands from Nov. 6-10, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb focused on fostering collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the Pacific Island states, including joint cooperation in environmental schemes and sustainable tourism development.

The minister held bilateral discussions with island state leaders to explore mutual growth and development at the 52nd session of the forum.

Chaired by Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown, the five-day event addressed a range of issues, including peace, governance, security, investment, climate change and economic advancement.

The Pacific Islands Forum, established in 1971, consists of 18 member states from the Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand. It aims to enhance economic and social progress through intergovernmental and international cooperation.
