Pakistani Atif Butt wins Thaiger Uppercut 2023 Tekken tournament in Bangkok

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Atif Butt on Sunday won the Thaiger Uppercut 2023 Tekken 7 tournament to register another esports victory for the South Asian country. 

Butt remained unbeaten in the tournament, held in Bangkok on Nov 3-5, and reached the top position with eight wins and zero losses. 

He defeated fellow countryman, Hafiz Tanveer, 2-1 in the semifinals, followed by his 3-2 victory over LowHigh in the final. 

“Atif is your #TGU2023 Champion,” Bandai Namco Esports, a Japanese multinational video game publisher, said on X. 

The three-day tournament featured some intense gaming rounds, with top eight players battling it out for top positions. 

Earlier this month, Pakistani gamer Arslan ‘Ash’ Siddique won the Uprising Korea 2023 Tekken 7 tournament in Seoul. 

Considered one of the greatest Tekken players in the world, Siddique became the first professional gamer in August to win the global Tekken 7 title four times.
