RIYADH: King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday directed the launch of a national aid campaign for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip through the Saudi aid agency KSrelief.
King Salman and the crown prince launched the campaign by donating SR50 million, the former donating SR30 million.
Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, adviser at the Royal Court and supervisor general of KSrelief, said the fundraising would be done through the aid agency’s Sahem platform and the Sahem application, the unified bank account dedicated to the campaign, or through the multiple donation channels on its website.
Al-Rabeeah added that the aid campaign was part of the Kingdom’s historic role in standing with the Palestinian people in times of crisis.
He added that the magnanimous action reflected the values of the nation’s leadership.
Donations can be made to the campaign via the Sahem platform at https://sahem.ksrelief.org/Gaza
Donors can also send their transfers directly through the campaign’s Al-Rajhi Bank account, or download the Sahem application on mobile devices via Apple or Google Play.
Al-Rabeeah added that KSrelief will not deduct any administrative fees from donations, so the full amounts will reach the intended beneficiaries.
The General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, which is headed by the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh, has urged Muslims in the Kingdom to donate to the campaign.
Al-Sheikh said the campaign confirmed the keenness of the Saudi leadership to support the needs of the afflicted and those in need of assistance.
The total number of donors to have accessed the platform stood at 72,375 by Thursday afternoon, and SR64,274,009 had been made in donations.
Meanwhile, Arab News has confirmed there will be an emergency Arab summit in Riyadh later this month to discuss efforts to stop the violence in Gaza.
Saudi Arabia and Palestine led the consultations for the meeting.
Ambassador Hossam Zaki, the assistant secretary-general of the League of Arab States, told Arab News on Thursday: “The emergency meeting will be held on the morning of Nov. 11 in Riyadh.”
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas last Saturday urged Arab leaders to convene an emergency summit to help stop Israeli attacks in Gaza.
