The International Medical Center in Jeddah earlier this month rolled out their annual breast cancer awareness campaign, to coincide with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, celebrated worldwide every October.

The “With Hope, You Are Stronger” campaign, which is in line with IMC’s social responsibility programs, was launched by Dr. Walid Fitaihi, chairman and CEO of IMC.

The campaign encourages women over the age of 40 to undergo early screening for breast cancer and introduces them to the self-detection mechanism, in addition to educating them about the procedures required in case breast cancer is detected.

To encourage early screening, IMC is offering a 50 percent discount on mammogram tests and a free consultation alongside. The discount will last throughout the month of October and is being provided at both the IMC headquarters and The First Clinic at Etoile Center in Jeddah.

Moreover, the campaign includes a number of other activities. IMC is leveraging its social media channels to post information on breast cancer. It also hosted awareness events at its premises. The events, which lasted three days, offered a platform for people to ask questions to health experts and gain valuable insights on the condition. The event witnessed audience interaction, with many of them enquiring about matters related to prevention, examination and the procedures that every woman should be familiar with regarding a healthy lifestyle.

Moreover, a series of episodes was aired on MIX FM Radio, under the title “Your wellness with the IMC,” which included an episode on breast cancer awareness hosted by an IMC doctor, who shed light on the importance of early screening.

It is worth noting that 99 percent of women who underwent breast examination have healthy results. In the event of early breast cancer detection, the treatment journey is safer and more likely to be successful as early detection increases the cure rate by 95 percent, making the treatment faster and easier. This is possible as treatment begins with a minimal dose of radiation, along with periodic mammographic screening. This test is the best method for early detection in women aged 40 years and above as it helps detect tumors that cannot be found by self-examination.
