RIYADH: The Saudi Arabian Military Industries on Tuesday launched a new strategy and identity for SAMI Aerospace Mechanics following the acquisition of Aircraft Accessories and Components Co. earlier this year, according to a press release.
With this move, the national defense company owned by the Public Investment Fund seeks to drive the growth of the local defense sector and boost maintenance, repair, and overhaul of equipment in the Kingdom.
Prince Turki bin Bandar, commander of the Royal Saudi Air Forces, unveiled the brand identity and strategy of the company at a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters in Jeddah.
Speaking on the occasion, he said: “We all understand the importance of the role national companies play in building local capabilities and competencies in the field of aircraft maintenance. The role of the workers in these factories is just as important as the role of our soldiers in maintaining the security and safety of our country, so I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this important transformation.”
SAMI’s CEO Walid A. Abukhaled emphasized the significance of the evolution of the company, stating: “The new strategy and identity of ‘SAMI Aerospace Mechanics’ reflects the new horizons of the aviation and space sector in the Kingdom.
“This is a major step toward developing and empowering national capabilities in the field of aviation.”
Abdulsalam Al-Ghamdi, chairman of SAMI Aerospace, said: “Today we celebrate the launch of a new strategy and identity of ‘SAMI Aerospace Mechanics,’ which we believe transitions us from a defense-centric MRO to a formidable player on the global civil and defense aviation stage, and a major contributor to achieving a transformation in the aerospace sector.”
